Рукописная вариация в Англосаксонской хронике: анналы за 1069–1071 годы
Статья посвящена исследованию вариации в рукописях D (Вустерской) и E (Петерборской) Англосаксонской хроники. Изучение вариации в анналах за 1069–1071 гг., повествующих об антинормандских мятежах жителей Нортумбрии, позволяет показать, что записи за 1069 г. в рукописи D, скорее всего, были сделаны современником или почти современником событий. Это предположение подтверждают и детальность записи, и эмоциональный тон повествования, и отсутствие ретроспективных отсылок, которые могли бы свидетельствовать о том, что составителю были известны последующие события.
Описание нортумбрийского восстания в Хронике Иоанна Вустерского, очевидно, основано на протографе рукописи D, о чем говорит сходство и в изображении главных событий (в частности, пожара в Йорке и в монастыре Святого Петра, не упомянутых в рукописи Е), и в именовании участников (скандинавов, англосаксов и норманнов), и в деталях (в частности, численности скандинавского флота).
Напротив, изложение событий за 1070–1071 гг. в рукописи D представляет собой сокращенную и, возможно, более позднюю запись по сравнению с анналами рукописи E (предположительно, D 1070–1071 были созданы на основе протографа Е 1070–1071). Интерполяция в рукописи E, повествующая о разграблении монастыря в Петерборо и осаде Или, делает ее уникальной по сравнению с другими рукописями и, вероятно, восходит к устным или письменным источникам, связанным с Петерборским аббатством. Интерполированный фрагмент мог быть составлен в Петерборо около 1121 г. и включен в рукопись Е в процессе копирования более ранних анналов.

Manuscript Variation in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle: The Annals for 1069–1071
The article is devoted to the study of variation among the annals for the years 1069–1071 included into manuscripts D and E of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. The analysis of variation between the annals for the year 1069 in manuscripts D and E, describing the rebellion against the Normans in Northumbria, shows that the annals in manuscript D, which are more detailed and more emphatic than those in manuscript E, must have been compiled by a contemporary or near contemporary of the events.
The description of the Northumbrian rebellion in the Chronicle of John of Worcester could have been based on the protograph of manuscript D: this hypothesis is confirmed by the similarity in the narrative of the main events in manuscript D and in the Chronicle of John of Worcester, including the description of the burning of York and St Peter’s Minster (altogether omitted in manuscript E), the reference to the same participants (Danish, Anglo-Saxon and Norman) and the use of same names and identical details, such as the number of Danish ships (240 in both manuscript D and the Chronicle of John of Worcester, as opposed to 300 in manuscript E).
On the contrary, the annals for the years 1070–1071 in manuscript D present a shortened record of the annals in manuscript E describing the burning of Peterborough and the siege of Ely; therefore they could go back to the protograph of manuscript E. The interpolated passage in manuscript E concerning the ransacking of Peterborough Minster must have been based on the oral and written chronicles of Peterborough Abbey, and could have been incorporated into manuscript E in the process of copying earlier annals in Peterborough around 1121.
