Our Middle Ages, Ourselves<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>This essay, a peculiar self-portrait of Richard Utz on historiographical background, opens his collection of essays \u201cMedievalism: a Manifesto\u201d. That volume, this chapter included, is dedicated to the demonstration of the influence that historian\u2019s fate has on his research topic. Utz proves that every medievalist is a cultural product of his or her era and therefore is unable to get rid of the images of the Middle Ages inherent in his or her culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Keywords:<\/em> C.
