«The Raid of Three Collas» (translation and commentaries)

The article offers a translation of a genealogical treatise preserved in most of the Irish genealogical manuscripts the earliest of which dates back to the 12th century. The text deals with the emergence of the Airgialla — a medieval kingdom in the borders of the modern counties of Armagh, Monaghan, Louth, Tyrone. Composing genealogies was wide-spread in medieval Ireland and played a significant role in the political life, that is why despite their fictional genealogies character are considered to be important sources for the intellectual and political history of medieval Ireland.
