From the First Person: Medieval Studies at Tyumen University
The author considers the development of medieval studies at Tyumen University. Three graduates have appeared in Tyumen from Leningrad University thirty years ago. There were Alexander Emanov, Sergey Pashin, and Sergey Kondratyev. Emanov was engaged in history of the Italian colonies in Crimea during 13th — 15th centuries; Pashin investigated the destiny of Red Russia in the structure of the Polish-Lithuanian kingdom; and Kondratyev studied the ideological sources of the English Revolution. They have created academic groups of young historians-medievalists, founded scholarly editions, organized academic conferences on medieval studies. The profile of medieval studies at Tyumen University is characterized by an interest in the concepts of the person and corporations, use of written and material sources, verbal and nonverbal information, application of information technologies in research.
